Always appreciate the input. Im learning new stuff every day and losing my eyesight at the same speed.
I wish someone would do a similar thread about Hebmuller. I guess their short production time means less history/documentation available. I try to contribute here at TS hoping it will be here forever for others to learn from. The available information today for these little cars is a million times better than before the internet, now anyone can be a pro if they have the time to read. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild

the location of the photo is the head offices of Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH, headed by Dr Anton Piëch, at alpenstrasse salzburg.
maybe it's a badge for their import business - like a dealer badge.
slightly different angle of the line-up

I didn't realize there was a dedicated Karmann production thread.
Here are a few photos from my gallery.

On the right is a stack of kabrio bodies, I first thought they were waiting to be shipped off to Karmann but looking closer seem to be completed bodies with stamped lids and all. Wondering if this is a facility storing spare bodies for wreck replacement?

Is this photo from Wolfsburg? Were the cabriolet bodies made at Osnbruck and then shipped here to be stored as spares? Or were even the Cabrio bodies assembled in Wolfsburg from panels made and shipped from Osnabruck? _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

i came across one vert that was build in may 1955 but not delivered to the dealer until january 1956. bc speaks of an' in-house fleet' where it was stored in the meantime for 'disposition reserve for export'.
may be they also stored less fully equipped cars for other purposes. _________________ 7/58 Beetle Cabrio RHD |

I thought the in house fleet was for promotional use. Shows, pictures for magazines, commercials and technical demonstration/documentation. Some fleet were used for test vehicles as well.
The bodies in the photo do not have pans so no VIN assignments either. The only NOS body Ive seen didnt even have a body number stamp, just holes for the vin plate.
No kabrio bodies were assembled at Wolfsburg, you can see the 1/2 dipped body (primer) which was only done at Karmann _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild
