Finally installed my GW front skid plate. I came up with an idea to install a pair of flood LED's to mount on the skid plate. I bought a pair of Rigid Ignite flush mount flood beams. Link below:

http://www.rigidindustries.com/led-lighting?f[0]=field_product_family%3a5485

I originally planned to cut a pair of 1" holes on the skidplate & put the floods on either side, but I discovered that the the angle wasn't correct. I ended up making some brackets from a piece of u channel I had. I bolted them up to the most aft holes on the sides of the plate.

Here's the skid plate. It's a nice piece & heavy duty

Here are some pics. I only got one side LED mounted. I'll finish it up tomorrow & get some nighttime pics...

Awesome. The added light will be great off road.

Yeah I hope. I've always wanted to get some lights mounted low for slow wheelin & hill climbing.

BTW, I think I should add a disclaimer on those "Ignite" lights. Just in case someone is thinking about using these lights as fog lights, they are way too intense (almost arc like). You will blind oncoming traffic for sure. They should only be used for off roading

If you want fogs, use these below

Love that idea and how you accessorized the skid plate. I have the GW skid plate too.

Can you share what size channel you used and your wiring schematic, switch, etc...?

Thanks. BTW, I'm not done accessorizing it yet. I'm going to see if a RotoPax water container will fit above it...

I bought the aluminum section from McMaster-Carr. Rigid also makes a that light with a pedestal (surface) mount. It may be a better option. The nice thing about the aluminum is that it should move a lot of heat away from the light.
You can just get a section of 90 deg 3/16" 2"x2" L channel & save yourself a couple of cuts & a few bucks. $11 for a 1 foot piece.

This is what I have (for another project)

Highly Corrosion-Resistant 6063 Aluminum, U-Channel, 1/8" Thick, 2-1/2" Base, 2" Legs, 4'

http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/122/3706/=13do25u

Wiring is not done yet. It will be relay controlled.

Maybe you can rig up some headlight washers to keep the mud off.

I got the other side installed. For the small size, they really throw out a nice flood pattern.

Using these alone, you probably wont be able to go more than 15-20 mph. I plan on getting a Rigid Dually spot lamp to mount onto the driver mirror (I have LT mirrors)
