I’ve gotten as far as pulling the mechanical key switch out but the electrical switch does want to slide out. Maybe only moves a 1/2 inch. Do I need to unsolder the thee wires first?

I normally remove the entire column before removing the switch. It's easier to install/remove parts and see what I'm doing. |

Still can’t seem the get the switch to slide out, only goes about a 1/2 inch and stops. Feels like it’s hitting metal??

Well, I put the mechanical key switch back in and turned it a bit and it’s sliding more finally. |

Maybe the lock tab was sticking out?
You can see it at the top here sticking out:
I usually remove the ignition with the key in it as something to grab with my hand but also so the key is turned and not in the fully locked position where the lock tab pops out _________________ How to Post Photos

Can the switch be removed with the lock tab in the locked position? Keys were lost and trying to get the numbers to re key. _________________ 1960 L346 L347 Standard |

A true ‘67 switch will have a “K” code tumbler that is removable. See the slot press the spring to remove the key part. Some photos where the key goes I would be able to tell. I have a lot of photos of those early switches in my gallery. See photo.

That happened to me on my 63 notch. I took the whole column off and sent it to Gabriel to put a new key in the original ignition. _________________
