Not wanting to start a fight and all of that, but i have to admit this is one of the slower responding, cocky remark forums on the samba.

Having owned a few aircooleds i've chatted in most other forums, and apart from a select few members, the general concensus is that this section isnt about helping others.

Anyone else share this sentiment?

Nobody in this section will, I'm afraid. Sorry!

What exactly are your issues? You seem to have gotten help pretty quickly for most of your queries.

I disagree - most Type 3 owners are quite willing to help with advice, knowledge, parts, etc....

they are also willing to give you their opinions, as well, or is your gripe about something else....

or are you being deliberately vague?

edit:

I think I found your problem:

I haven't seen any probs in here. yes we do give out the occasional ribbing, and the search nazis do get a little annoying, but they have a point, and the stock nazis... Smile you guys know times change. posting something like this is just asking to get beat up with type just for fun.

good luck. I like this forum and have no plans on leaving or changing.

BTW you might want to stay away from the vortex, they can be a lot meaner.

The t3 section is full of good people. I don't think it's fair to compare us to the other parts of the samba since we are the 2nd lowest population section, type 4 section is even smaller then us and they might go weeks without a new post.

All my questions get answered when I ask them. This is the best we got, STF is a awesome site but their T3 section is even more of a ghost town.

I have gotten nothing but help here. (Thank you to all that assist those of us that don't know!)

If I were to suggest anything to add to the site/section, it would be to improve the search function. In other forums I have been to, the search function will direct you to the post within the thread that relates to the search item. this one just takes you to the beginning of the thread. For something like the Fuel Injection Help thread, that is a TON of reading in order to find something. Wink

But anyway, I LOVE this section!

Yunazz aparently you havent spent much time in the high performance engine/transmission forum. if you want to see a bunch of snarky bastards thats the forum for you. I love that forum as well as the type 3 and sarcastic and even critical comments are a regular occurance in both forums. it doesnt help when most questions that come in are awefully vaque, especially the one or two line question threads. Im just as guilty by posting such garbage. Rarely do we find a well thought out and well written post. just a thought

I have to agree. Whenever I've asked for help, I got it, or was led to where I could find it. I too have noticed this about the search funtion, but there's not a lot we can do about it, so I don't worry about it. Wink

As for it being 1 of the slower responding forums, people work, and actually have lives away from the computer. It also doesn't help when you're on the other side of the country (3 hour time difference), or out of the USA, where the time difference is even greater. Take a look in the "demographics" thread at the top, and you'll see there's a bunch of people from all over.
If you want to get insulted, and still NOT get an answer to your question, visit the bus forums. Shocked

I actually like this forum, and I know the moderators like it too, since most of the time we police ourselves. I've been on here a few years too, completely disassembled a couple of cars, and still I ask questions. Sometimes I'll get the answer I'm looking for, and sometimes not. But I'm going to stick around, as I like this place. Cool

If you want help in this forum, it's probably best that you don't alienate the people that hold the answers you seek.

This forum is the only one I actually frequent because they will give answers. The issues come with the intentionally confrontational questions or the repetitive and redundant questions (that was for Neil Wink ) and any group that has been around awhile will get a little, what was the word? oh yeah... snarky with folks that ask for answers then get mad when the answer isn't what they want.

Another version of the statement above: Don't bite the hand that feeds you!

I've bounced around this site since 2004. I've gone through the bay window forum, split bus forum, the engine forum and now the T3 forum. The number of people here is really what drives the low answer issue. Look at how many T3's are for sale at any given moment. Look at the post rate etc... However everybody I've met here have been great once I did get a question answered. I feel that the three best people to give insight on VW mechanics are/were here (Russ, Tram, Ray). These fellows don't exist/post as heavily in the other forums. Were actually quite lucky to have so much depth here.
It is an odd thing though. The T3 is the best vehicle IMHO that VW made. It moves people and cargo faster, more comfortably and more efficient than any other air cooled VW. Where's the love for those facts?

Once you get to the thread, you can scan thru it for the highlighted words, or do another search (within the thread this time) and it will show you just the relevant posts.

The issue I have is I haven't figured out how to force it to look at consecutive words. Google uses the quotes for this, but I try it here, on say, "rubber stop", and I get a bunch of threads about window seals that happened to have both words in there, just not next to each other.
