This was in my truck when purchased, thrown in the bin by the rear cab wall. Thought it was for the under-seat storage area, but nope. A bit too big, and the seat rail prevents it from sliding over in any case.

Under-seat cover for a bench seat bus? Non bus?

Kinda looks like the door mechanism cover off of a 60s Ford pickup.

I looked at a '66 F-100 and the cover panel is 24 1/2" X 10 1/2" and has 6 holes.

What’s weird is that it seems the paints match VW paint; the white is the same (incorrect) white as parts of the dash, and the grey matches some factory primered bits. I am open to the idea they grabbed a part from some other car - it was a junkyard partsrunner - and tried to paint it to match but I can’t imagine what the hell they were using it for. Everything else found in the cab well went somewhere. I,ll keep it around - maybe I’ll make a gas sender access hatch in the bed. LOL!

Maybe it was a random part from another kind of car that they used to test the paint color on before painting the bus?
