She still drives her civic (as recently as 2 days ago)
The last MT car she owned was an 88 Sentra back in 1996. As they say, it must be like riding a bicycle....you never forget how.

Thank you all for the well wishes and kind words...

I hope my son ( who was present at this ) doesn't try and give me my old Ducati 996 when I'm 70. Wink

Wow, someone must be slicing up some onions around here! My computer screen is getting all blurry.

In my opinion, worth every cent and more. I wish I could have done the same.

Very nice story and your mom should be proud. The posting got me in two ways, my first bug was a '65 and Bahama blue. I'd love to do another but the stock seat material no longer exists.

The car is tucked away nicely in her garage. She bootrd her civic to the driveway Smile

My two aunts and her got together and sat in it and had a bunch of laughs reminiscing and crying together.

They were young again. Like kids, each taking turns in the driver's seat, turning the wheel.

My aunt, the youngest of the three sisters, sat in the back seat and remembered how she was the "chapperone" on my Mom's dates. Too funny.

These cars... are much more than plastic and metal.

Onions everywhere!

This is the best thing I've read in ages. You did a very good thing for your mom. I hope we all have kids that will think of us the same way you've thought of your mom.

Thanks for sharing such an awesome moment from your life.

As the sun rose in the morning of May 29, 2012, my Mother passed away in her home.

It has been the most terrible experience to go through...to watch...to hear...

I am forever grateful for the time we had left with her in the last five months though...
It is a mind altering event and as such I'm not sure I'll ever be the same without her.

Yesterday, finally, she was inured at Ft. Rosecrans over looking North Island. Where she worked for the majority of her time with the Navy.

Getting her car from her garage and driving it to my house was such an emotional ride.
The family thought it fitting that I bring her car to her services at Miramar and Pt. Loma.

She love the car and said the thought of it as her jewel. If only she could take it with her.

Thank you for listening/reading
