Installed a long spoon latch on my 67 buses rear cargo door's pop out window tonight in order to get the windows to pop out more., and when closed and I go to open the door, the latch drags across the surface of the interior when he door opens

I have no spacer under where the latch gets screwed to the interior using three screws, am I suppose to use a spacer in this location, is that why its touching and dragging?

any help appreciated

Jack

The only windows that were supposed to have the spacers were the rearmost which are past the cargo doors. Not sure why you are having the problem. The long spoons were not installed stock on 67's.

Your problem may be that the long spoon latch is mounted on a low hinge door (67). There is a picture of a long spoon latch mounted on a rear cargo door but it is a high hinge and therefore the outward swing of the door may be just different enough to allow the latch to clear the interior. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1245616

Just a theory as I have no personal experience. Spacers on the door are not used as the mounting plate for the latch is welded to the outside of the frame rather that inside the channel as for the interior windows.
