Hi, I have a 1951 /10 (Oct) Beetle and it came with the below headlights, can anyone help me identify period correct ones? I am not sure if the ones I have are correct. Thanks a lot.

for the lenses, to me the first photo looks correct. The other ones where there's a circled NL and A on the lens are newer than 51 should have. |

The A and NL (Austria, Netherlands) approval markings were added late in 1954, IIRC.
Not sure if the early Bosch should have a VW emblem at the top of the lens. If absent, the lens could also be for an early Porsche. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

None is right. Cromering and glas is wrong on both. _________________ Me and my sons cars Typ1 -49 -50 -51 -52 -52 -53 -53 -54 -55 -55 -56 -56 -57 -58 cab -64 cab

Pre-'64 Bosch lenses (usually) are date-coded by roman numeral quarter and letter-coded year on the lip at 12 o'clock. Hella lenses are not date-coded at all.
Bosch buckets are not date-coded. Date codes (month and year) are on the rear of the reflector. All Hella buckets are date coded at the bottom by week number and year letter code.
Pre-'53 sealed beam assemblies of any type are rare. Hella sealed-beam lens types are well-documented from '53-on. If any VW-made, Hella-designed, sealed-beam buckets exist, they would be date-stamped with Hella year letter code and month number, often followed by "18," same as '53-'54 VW. Only one Bosch sealed-beam lens photo has ever been posted on this site and it has the block lettering, so not pre-'53. A semi-fluted style of lens exists. These may be the earliest sealed-beam lens type. They are extremely rare and not well-documented. _________________ Thanks,
