Just how brighter are the brighter option interior bulbs? Not too bright? Is there a big difference in going to the white dash bulbs over the stock? _________________ '70 ghia

I was just looking for them in Canada as they were $10 each here and someone answered w/ two places that had them for something like 2 for $6 for the interior ones. It was a good thread w/ another link to the different bulbs later down and an explanation to the types below here:

Canada was too expensive, getting the gowesty ones when a sale pops up!
Didn't realize that gowesty had two grades of LED bulbs, they do that a lot and it confuses me! I'm happy to pay more money if I'm getting something worth it out of it, but if the more expensive item isn't *that* much better, why spend the money! Anyone seen both?

Standard and High Power.
Which is better!

The high power ones simply have twice as many LEDs on each lamp. I have both kinds, and prefer the high power ones.
Now--GoWesty is nice and all, but they sure overcharge on items like these. You can get two of the "high power" lamps on Amazon for $6:

I ordered mine from dealextreme.com.

I see now that these links I'm including are for pure white LEDs. The Gowesty site says that theirs are warm--I'm not sure that is worth a 3x price tag though (and I'm sure you can find warm ones if you search a bit online.)
I love GoWesty's engines, bumpers and other Vanagon-specific things, but when it comes to little consumer electronics stuff like these lamps, you're better off looking elsewhere. |

| Are the VC dash LEDs available in different colors? I just installed the blue GW kit and like them, although I haven't driven at night very far yet. I installed the standard brightness VC interior led kit about 6 mos. ago and like them too. The kitchen galley light is slightly brighter than the stock incandescents. We don't feel it needs to be any brighter, especially with an dimmable led warm white strip over the bench seat and a cool white strip over the sink. |

I just ordered the vancafe led dash light set, the led map light bulb, the two rear interior light leds and the brighter led bulb for the front dome light. Hopefully i'll like them. I don't have an aux battery so it'll be nice to be able to run the interior lights without fear of running the battery down too much. _________________ '70 ghia
