Hello all I have a quick question, my 71 square is in need of door handles and I was wondering will the late model bug handles work or do I just need to find a junk yard. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated. Laughing

Heb, type3 door handles are body specific, meaning you can't use bug handles here. I tried before, and the push rod that opens the door mechanisim is too sahort to work. It looks like you'll be going junk yarding. If you find a set of handles out of a 72 or 73, you'll note the finger section is a little longer, this is actually a good thing as they are easier to open the doors with them.

Door locks that come out with the key are probably missing the screw in the end (easy fix) of the lock. You'll have to take the handle off the car, and look in there to see if it really is missing. If the key you have doesn't work the lock, you might want to see a GOOD locksmith, and have him re-key the lock to match yours. I hope this helps.

heck ya, going to the junkyard is fun. there was a 73 squareback that i stripped of usable parts for my 12volt conversion. too bad its not there anymore or i could help you out. the best part about junkyards is tearing the fuck out of stuff to get to what you really want.
