Hi Guys,
I'm in need of a new rear hatch cable sleeve with grommets. It's #33 in the image on this page:
http://www.jimellisvwparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?u...gory=21728

If they are not available has anyone had any luck fabricating anything? I figure a few grommets and a nice thin yet tight fitting rubber sleeve might work.

Cheers,
glen

If your are still somewhat intact, you can do what I did and smear black RTV all over them and let it cure.
It's not ideal but is keeping the water out of my hatch.

I haven't gotten to this yet, but my plan was to search the wrecking yard for a similar tube and either use that tube or use the make and model to order a new one from that manufacturer. Switching to an oval tube would be a good idea, too.

Thanks guys I got the part number from the other link (251971840) and found it at busdepot. I just ordered it. We'll see if they have it. They'll probably just come back and say that they don't have it. If it doesn't work I'll try that grommet and clear plastic tubing workaround. Mine was completely disintegrated. The drivers side grommet/tubing is in good condition. Weird!

BTW: I'm in the process of running new windshield washer tubing in the front and back. I've completed the front and tested some new squirters I got and they shoot straight up over the windshield Rolling Eyes So anyway I've searched and found a link for some 2 way squirters that someone had good luck with:

Fingers crossed Wink

So now at least the front tubing is all replaced and working apart from the crap squirters from gowesty. Now the back tubing will have to wait for this darn grommet sleeve.
