After sitting for a year, I went to start my 63 and nothing. I charged the battery and after six hours or so went to check it. The battery had blown up. Cleaned everything up and replaced the battery. at this point it cranks but doesnt start. Next I poured a little fuel in the carb then starting fluid still nothing. Checked coil and it appeared to be bad. Replaced it still nothing. Changed the condenser and points and gapped the points to .016 and still nothing. Checked for spark at the coil and none but I am getting 6 volts at the coil. I'm running a 1200cc with a 009 distributor. Any guidance is appreciated.

Have you checked the distributor cap the lead to the cap from the coil or rotor? Any one of these would cause non-sparking at the plugs.

Hope this helps.

Troubleshooting is a process of elimination and substation. With a 6 volt system, measure about 6V at the + coil when the points are closed (0 V at – coil). Subtitle the points with a jumper, with the points open, ground the – coil terminal and look for a ¼” spark when jumper is removed.
