I'm working on getting my 73 bus started. Currently focusing on the spark plugs. I have to replace 1 lead because the existing one is hard and crispy. The PO looks like they put in new spark plugs. In any case, the new Bosch leads have a retaining wire in each connector and their too small to accommodate a spark plug. Am I supposed to somehow custom fit it?

You need to pull the cap off the sparkplug. there is a small threaded rod inside that they go over

The screw-on tip is supposed to be removed from the plug end. The connector clip you show
is mangled, must be fixed or replaced.

Unscrew the terminal off the end of the spark plug.

Yep, unscrew it. If your wires are bad just replace the entire set. Shouldn't be more than about $30. I like to use Bosch wires and I always stay away from those colorful "bling" wires some people buy.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll now get that done. I definitely don't trust the current wiring anymore, nor the PO who installed them. This will get me started.

On busdepot they say these are better than the Bosch wires:

If they are better then why are the Bosch wires so much more expensive?

Since when does price have anything to do with quality?

Actually I found out that Bosch T4 wires are more like $60 a set.

the skin on the Bosch ones tears easily. The other ones BD carries are better IMHO.
