I'm trying to make extra room for my van, thought of
This idea by Bettmobil. Pretty clever IMO. I've seen
A similar idea from the old buses with tent enclosure.
I like the bettmobil's hard enclosure. Have an idea in mind
to make one but thought of checking if anyone has done
it or similar to bettmobil.

Thanks.

what van you got?

on a vanagon, it would make accessing the engine very challenging

Vanagon, too bad they don't make it for our model.
I have an idea how to gain access to the engine bay.

What if that was made with tent-canvas, folding out similar to the poptop.
I suppose it would need a platform, and a mattress.
But you could leave the bench seat "for sitting".
Have to clamber over the seatback to go to bed but I can think of some times it would be nice to leave the bed setup plus have the bench seat available.

Well well. Upstairs is good for naps too.

That's nice! I like it. I would extend it all the way to the edge of
The bottom hatch to maximize the space.
Thanks

That's exactly my plan.. to leave the bench seat up for hangin out and bed behind it. I've seen the canvas ones but I'd like the hard enclosure.
Thanks sodo!

There used to be a fiberglass add on the rear bathroom.

I'll see if I can dig up a photo.

From VanagonHacks.com

This appears to be some kind of removable extension for a Westy and is apparently called the Bischofberger extension. I don’t have any information about it other than what appears in the pictures.

In this one, the bed can go all the way out on the tailgate so it takes up zero floor space when deployed. We use the BD hatch tent which is fabulous.
