1989 2.1l auto digifant Vanagon US version now in UK
Engine runs ok then dies, sometimes restarts, sometimes not , had 3 tows home in last month from camping trips.
All at intermittent mileage, 150 miles, then only 5 miles.
Fitted new coil, lambda, new leads, plugs, all filters, dis cap, new hardstart relay, VW -302 signal harness, checked ECU and AFM, injectors etc, all earth grounds are ok.
What else could it be and how can I diagnose a solution.
All constructive ideas considered. |

You say it doesn't start... What does it do? Does it crank? Do you hear the fuel pump buzz when you turn the key to contact just before starting?
Those are things that would help folks here help you.
Also: a good booklet to have is this:
http://www.cabby-info.com/Files/DigifantProTrainingManual.pdf
Follow the instructions there and you can figure out pretty fast what might be wrong. Last time it happened to me, it was the hall sender connector into the distributor that had a bad contact. Previous time, it was the ignition switch. I'm a newbie, and both times I figured what it was on my own. _________________ 1989 Westy AT, 2.2 GoWesty.
