I have been testing my new ARB 50 qt fridge. I put a small container of water in the bottom of my fridge and then one in the top. I turned the control to 32 degrees. I wanted to know at what setting the bottom one would freeze but leave the upper one unfrozen.

I tried 29, then 25 degrees, but it was not until I set it to 19 degrees that the water froze. The top one remains unfrozen.

I notice that the temperature drops to as low as 12 degrees and then fluctuates up to 23 degrees at this setting.

I thought that if I set it at 30 or 29 degrees it would freeze the water.

Is this a common experience among other ARB owners, that you need to use a lower setting?

The fridge is empty other than the two containers of water, it is running on AC

What setting do you normally keep your fridge at?

We usually keep the setting at 30°. Once it has been packed and running we still can see a hint of things freezing on the bottom. But nothing solid.

For Ice cream set as low as it will go. Laughing

There is nothing like camping with Ice Cream bars around camp for the kids. Wink

Why not pick up a refrigerator thermometer and be able to tell exactly what the interior temps are?

Mine is a Truck Fridge and it runs a few degrees off.

Leave it in, it's a good running monitor for you.

We've actually been using ours as a freezer inside the house for the past year, and have it set to 7F, which allows for cold beer on the top shelf (no slush), and frozen ice cubes in the main compartment.

Agree that picking up an analog thermometer is the best way to go.

Your answers confirm what I was thinking, that the digital readout is not really a reflection of the actual temperature inside. I'll get a thermometer. I guess mine is not out of the ordinary.
