Im sure some of you have seen this well preserved 61 dd, one the the "eastland eight" bus's scored in Texas earlier in the year, well now its in the northeast and the plan is to have it ready to drive to the deutsche classic show in PA this spring, we made some progress since it arrived in early november.
Gas tank is flushed and reinstalled, the front floor is going in this weekend, all of the hinges have been repaired and ready to go back on,I've made some progress on matching the r/frt door and window frame

That's a great bus. Thanks for getting it back on the road.
One down, two to go.
BTW, there are a few pics of the Tip Top buses in my gallery on pages ... ummmm ... 6,7,8 possibly. They were taken right after Bryce got the Eastland 8 home.
In addition, I have some closeup shots of the pineapple, peach, cherry, and apricot logos. If you need any of them, PM me and I'll forward them to you.

Super cool bus! Nice work matching it up. It looks like it'll make the s prong get together with time to spare. I hope to see it there _________________ BarryL wrote:

I matched the passenger door by first tinting and painting it the correct blue, I was able to get the dove blue in lacquer from ppg, then using 3 different whites one was almost pale yellow i layered here and there, then I use a scuff paste with a grey scuff pad and water, we use it in the bodyshop for blend panels , I scuff to soften the edges exposing the dove blue, the red was easy i picked one off the bench and it was dead nuts on, I still have to stain the front of the door by the upper hinge, for that I use an adheision promoter (dupont 222) and while its tacky i throw a brown acid and rinse until i achieve the right amount of staining, its a muriatic acid with different metal dust mixed in , I will post more pics when I finish the staining |

Did you freshen up the red on the driver side? IIRC, it was all pretty much gone. |

I was thinking about freshening up the red on the left side, since the red is so close I just might , when it comes down to the shop I will look it over and also look into locking in the rest, the white is really dry and wipes off pretty easy, thinking about a light scuff, some adhiesion promoter and over reduced satin clear, im not a big fan the linseed oil look |

I'm almost jealous of the way you left the old floor around the heating tube. Just did my floor this summer (it's in a sticky thread), and that section kicked my ass. Getting the tube out...getting it back in...fitting the floor around the lower part of it, etc. Gonna cut the new floor to fit around that square you left, or do it "right"? _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

Fitting it around the cut out piece isn't any less right than the way you did it. If the metal is sound, why cut it out? _________________ Anthony

Oh...somebody told me Anthony was brilliant and understood that the "right" way was far different than the right way. Oh well. JK... _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat
