|
|
I am planning to install a 2k Eberspacher gasoline heater. My intent is to put it next to the rear heater core under the rear Westfalia seat.
My question: How hot does the actual heater get during operation? It will have some space around it and I intend to protect it from having any gear stowed near it but… I’m curious how hot it gets and how attentive one needs to be.
Thanks |

Not very hot at all. I installed mine in a box with a top vent behind the passenger seat. It has never felt hot to me.

the install manual lists the distances and space needed around it.
I highly recommend against installing it under the rear seat. Of all the options, its by far the worst. Having installed furnaces in several locations in vanagons- I won't put one under the rear bench again.
When the furnace is under the back seat- you can't put "things" under the lip of the bed, have to be real careful about blankets draping over the edge, etc etc etc.
It's VERY easy to block the heater off and render it useless (while melting things you put in front of it by accident)
The best location by far is in the dash behind the glovebox. It's Never obstructed, puts the loud fan/fuel pump as far away from you as possible while sleeping, makes for easy routing of intake, exhaust, and fuel, and puts comfortable warm air up by the driver and passenger (when they want it). _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=559766&highlight=winter+rust
