I dont think a bus came with a strap on the left hand side. Just the rubber bumpers so it doesn't hit the body. The reason for the strap on the right is so you cannot open the cargo door into the front door and shut the front door on the cargo door. At least that is what I have read. It makes sense. Laughing

Not sure it helps but my deluxe has straps on both doors. There is no place to put those bump stop things on the body as the deluxe molding takes that spot.

I don't have any pics on this computer but can take some later if no one else does.

I have had buses with straps on both. On the left door it was attached with the same type of bracket that mounts to the door. One is a deluxe and the others were not. The deluxe obviously did not have the bumpers but the others did.

Yes, the left is the same as the right side. Same brackets.

Strap is detached from the cargo door so I can open it all the way.

My '67 came with a strap on both sides, and (standard) a bump stop on the front passenger door too. Both straps could be unhooked by lifting the pin out of the loop.

Gordo.

Microbuses had straps for both cargo doors.
Kombis & panels only had the strap for the front cargo door.

Does anyone make a slightly longer strap? My front door doesn't quite make 90 degrees and regular closes itself. Something about an inch longer would be awesome.

What is your "left"? What side are your cargo doors on? What side is the steering?

I have always made my own straps; old vw dealer seat belt material sometimes came in green and has a close pattern to the og.

Does anyone know when VW started using the sheet metal type screws instead of threaded screws for holding the strap brackets?

Door straps and brackets (black mounts) are slightly shorter for commercial buses due to no inside panels and outside deluxe trim.

I was not aware of that.
There are different versions for high hinge and low hinge buses, though.

I always wondered why some were taller but I guess it needs to clear the door panel trim.

Deluxe mount starts with 841 part no. Commercial starts with the 211 no.

Maybee i am missing something, but the shape of those cargo door strap brackets look the same to me. The one marked commercial has an 841 number on it as well.

Instead of having all 9 numbers in such a tight space the 211 was left out. 211841###...

Spray some windex on that computer monitor. Deluxe is taller.
