I have a 1965 notch and was wondering:

1. Do the wrap around lights serve as running lights as well as blinkers?

2. Do the side markers serve as blinkers?

Early wraps are for styling only, not running lights/side marker function. You can see the single bulb connector here:

The large ('70-up) ones were functional, though.

In most markets, the upper fender mounted lights were wired for parking lights, lit on one side by moving the turn signal switch to one side with the ignition key removed. They are often rewired as additional turn signals, and may have come that way for some markets.

Um! Thats a two wire setup that you pictured. It would be running / turn.

Agreed; the OP was a little unclear whether he was asking for side marker, running, or parking lights.

1A) They can. In some markets yes. If it has 2 terminals on it (like the one Phil posted above) it has both a running and turn signal light in it. But IF it only has 1 terminal, then it's a turn signal only. Remember, these cars were built for different markets, with different requirements for each market.

2A) No, they were originally set up as a parking light, in which you set the turn signal arm to light up the side of the car closest to the street so other drivers could see the light on, knowing there was a parked car.
But, in some countrties, it was used as an additional turn signal (usually amber colored lenses). However, most of us with the side marker lights, have re-wired them to function as a side turn signal light. Wink

On the turn signals - Yes.
Some years have them as running lights in that they stay lit up even when the headlights are on., some of them are only on when the parking lights are on but not the headlights.

Side markers - Agree with all of the above.

My Canadian '63 has amber side marker lenses - they are wired up as turn signals.

If my wrap around lights have two prongs, then they will be used for running lights with the headlights on and off? In addition to be used as turn signals.

I think it depends on the headlight switch itself, whether or not the running lights stay on with the headlights. Some do, and some don't. Like I said above, it depends on the market. I've seen the switches do 1 or the other. Rolling Eyes

Great post this had me thinking..... Would 65 wrap around lights work on my 72 square? I think they look a lot better.

Yes, early turn signals can be fit to late model fenders with some welding/bodywork,painting. The curve is real close, but your old hole is too big. I like the 65-67 turn signals too. Cool
