restoring a doublecab at the moment and confused about the size needed for the wooden slats

Original bows and hoops came with the car I straightened and repaired them.

After reading the dropgates I saw the slats must be aproxx 69.2 inches long

measuring my own old slats they are only 68.5 inches ?

fitting them is straightforward with nice uprights, so confusion about te correct position of the rear upright at the loadbed.

can anybody confirm the right place as the loadbed is replaced with new KF panels and I've forgotten to check if the mountholes are in the correct position.

Unless you replaced the corners, the mount points are part of the bed frame work. If you only replaced the bed skins, you are still using the factory mount threads. Likely your original wood did shrink over time, hoops probably bowed in at the top. /-\ vs l-l

edit -- rear mount threads are part of the frame. front if memory serves are part of the skin.

Yes, 69.2" is correct as far as I know.
I agree your wood could have shrunk over time.

is exactly 68 3/16

the distance between de harts of the mounting holes is 66 13/16

as I lenghten the woodslats to 69 2/16 the rear hoop is standing top backwards I assume this has to be totally upright?

It worries me because of the fitting of the tilt in the future.

still not sure wat is wrong yet. d'oh!

How did you "lengthen" the slats?
Looks like the original length was correct.

I jiust put a piece of sheet metal with two clamps to it to show the result

the woodslats are only 68 1/2 and not 69 2/16 as supposed on the dropgates site

My original metal Double Cab has almost the same exact measurements.

I do not know about the slat length but I agree the rear bow should be at a 90-degree angle (straight up and down)

Thank you all for the replies

@ EverettB :

your reply reassures me thanks, was afraid for a very loose fit of a tilt in future.

Car is leaving to be sprayed this week
