I have restored a lot of Beetles, a few Bay Windows, and I finally got a hold of a splitty. I'm pretty excited about this build, I'm more of a split bus guy and I finally get to get my hands dirty on one. Maybe I'll get to work on one I'm keeping one day lol.

This one has some rust issues but nothing major, just typical rust with a bonus of the front load bed being cut out. I guess someone had plans for a small block or something. The nose is in great condition, it is very straight, and I think it will turn out pretty nice. I'm going with the stock Turquoise color, stock height, but I think I'm going to build a 1776 for it.

Excellent! We love detail photos. Is this one better than your white one? What happened?

This one is a lot straighter and more solid then my white 63. The white one is mine and hopefully one day I'll actually get around to working on it. I'm thinking I might just make it a driver and slowly work on it so I can at least enjoy it for now.

The 63 I'm working on I bought to restore and sell. I'm still waiting for the inner rockers to come in. When they arrive, I'm hoping to knock out the metal work within the next week. I'll update this thread throughout the build.

Great detailed photos! I've also bought a Turquoise 1963 DC truck from Dixon MO (110 miles from you) and will be excited to see your progress. Did it come with any original interior panels or seats?

Here's the site for my DC: http://leehedges.wix.com/pearlwhite1963doublecab

I've been a little busy and haven't got to update for a while. She is coming along, slowly, but coming along. I'm hoping I'll be finished with the metal work in about a week. I'm not looking forward to all the sanding lol.

I also have a couple hours of grinding to do. I'm just happy it's finally starting to look like I'm making progress.

Today she becomes solid once more. It's been a long time coming, and I'm sick of doing metal work lol. A hundred or two tack welds and the load bed will be finished. After that, a few patches on the gates and I can start the body work. It just needs a some sanding and a little paint. Does anyone know where I can get a gallon of the original turquoise for the SC?

Looks great man keep us posted along the way.
I appreciate all the detailed pics in the treasure chest area as I'm tackling that section myself.

Keep on keeping on.

Icekoffee likes to keep some of his turds at my place... And use my tools. It's okay though, I put him to work whenever I can!

Did you use the WW floor and patch it to work?

Sure did, I just cut out the seat mounts and used the original edges of the floor with the treasure chest locks.

She got a little sun yesterday, I'm almost ready to start sanding.
