Here in Canada I have seen some shop dip the vehicles in a tank to remove the rust and some sand blast. Which would be better for a total restoration. And by the way you split guys are totally skilled with metal work. Awesome. _________________ Brett

Question for you.
After blasting the truck, did you spray it with primer?
Just asking because the only experience with stripping the paint that I have is bead blasting and it left the metal a shiny silver color. By experience, I mean I paid for it. I am curious if the blasting process or paint gave the truck that color.
Thank you. |

The truck is in bare metal as of right now. Our plan is to remove the areas that we will be replacing to better gain access to areas normally covered then prime the bus.
The finish of the bus right now is a result of the mineral blasting process. What you described sounds like you had something glass bead blasted. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smittys-Auto-Body-Collision-Repair-Restoration/394733633959825

I don't know what to say. I can't wait to see the progress and I'm glad it's going to be saved sooner rather than later. _________________ Anthony

Thank you for answering my question. I was really curious about the color. I don't know much about blasting. Threads like this one help me learn.
Looking good thus far. |

Yeah but back when it was done, it was probably just a $500 beater truck. No one ever imagined they would turn into $20K beater trucks, or 50-60K+ show trucks
Nice work Corey |

I know the Second owner of this DC, he bought it this way close to 25 years ago now. His son drove it off and on and it sat in this condition for years up to this point. Corey and I have talked about the condition and I can say I honestly didn't know how bad was when I purchased it. Had I known the extent of the shitty repairs I would have walked. I had thoughts of a full resto when I retire from the AF. Like I said above I'm happy that it went to a good home and shop that will make it right. _________________ Anthony
