Hi,

I have a 1973 DC (euro version) and today I've decided to check why the parinkg warning light is not working.

I've removed the guage panel and discovered that the wire is not connected, do I've connect it to terminal 8L on the headlight switch, the light is working now but I have another issue, when switching from parking light to low/high ligth, the parking warning light stay's on.

Is it soppose to stay on at all light stages?

Did I connect it to the correct terminal?

Thank's

K7 is the brake warning lamp on the 73 diagram but it's the park light indicator on the 72 version, maybe some year confusion?
Many replacement headlight switches lack terminal #57 or have it tied in internally to the park lights, sadly unless you can find a switch with the dedicated terminal you'll have to live with it on along with the headlights or leave it disconnected entirely.

Actually, you don't have to live with it - but the solution is a bit of work, assuming you can't locate the proper headlight switch.

Consider: the indicator light is supposed to illuminate when the tail lights are lit but when the headlights are not lit. Take a generic Bosch cube relay, wire terminal 86 (one end of the coil) to the tail light wire ( 58 ) on the headlight switch, and wire relay terminal 85 (other end of the coil) to the 'X' terminal on the headlight switch. Now, when the headlight switch is in the parking light position, current will flow from the tail light circuit through the relay coil, and then to ground through the non-illuminted headlights.

Wire relay terminal 30 to relay terminal 86 and relay terminal 87 to the indicator light. When the relay is closed, tail light power will flow through the relay contacts to the indicator, illuminating it.

When both the tail lights and headlights are lit, the relay coil has 12 volts on both terminals, thus it doesn't close and the indicator doesn't light.

Whether this is worth the work or not is up to you to decide...

I know my '72 green light stays on whenever the light switch is on, whether parking lights or headlight position. Never bothered me, actually kind of nice to look down and see whether the lights are on in daylight or night.

When the headlights are on, the parking lights (i.e. side lights) inside the headlamp units (British & European type with replaceable bulbs; NOT sealed-beam units) remain illuminated.

One could retro-fit an additional warning-light facility for headlamp dipped-beam.
