1990 2.1

On the aft bulkhead to the right (looking forward) of the power steering reservoir i have a small component/box. It has an electrical connector and two vacuum lines coming off of it. One of which wraps around and reenters the mystery component.

WTF is this thing? I have crawled through my Bently and Googled everything i can think of with no luck.

Idle picker upper thingy for the power steering?

-When the power steering is turned all the way to end of travel, an electrical
signal opens a valve in your component/box, which allows vacuum into the
plenum, and thereby increasing the idle speed.

I may have the logic wrong, but there is one for P/S and one for AC..
(see if you can trace one of the wires back to the P/S pump, mine
is on a hose fitting to the pump itself)

both to pick up idle speed if needed...kinda thing Laughing

DONT TOUCH IT! ('Shame on you')

It was installed by Italians. They put things like that in Italian cars, Fiats in partcular, things youll never find mention of in any manual anywhere and which serve no notable useful function, but if you remove it the entire vehicle will self destruct. ('Liar')

Just kidding, I have NO idea. ('Think')
