I gotta rant, I have been trying to figure out why I have a soft pedal...The back story, a guy that used to work at the local import parts store left to turn wrenches. Nice guy, knowledgeable and work was top notch.

Me myself, I like to tinker and learn new things not shy or fear the unknown. Pisses the wife off because I get into my work! I started a brake conversion and put all the pieces together and in place except the master cylinder.

I make the wife happy and for once I contract a job out.....the problem this whole time has been a POS master cylinder that leaks around reservoir grommets.

The seeping stops when I push down on the reservoir, I had gone back and fourth a dozen times looking at every connection, line and fitting. I'm crazy for spending 100 an hour for some shit job and accountability....haha yeah right, it was good when it left here! It must be the calipers your using.....F off!

And now it's Sunday, no one's open!
I could snap....

Bottom line, diy! shops today want obd to tell them what's wrong and simply replace parts. If you have a tech who knows and understands automotive systems let them know they are appreciated.

Sorry Z, I had diarrhea of the mouth and had to edit post to make sense. This machine is so dang close and it seems the problems have all fallen on the hands of the shop I had work done at, simply based on good history. Now with sub par results!

So you are upset that shops charge to diagnos a repair??

You are upset because they installed a master cylinder YOU provided and it has bad reservoir grommets? You didn't provide new grommets so they were forced to reuse the old ones and they leaked?

Not their fault, you provide parts, they put them in, you provide poor quality parts or not the proper or enough parts..... The End result is poor.

Why are they wrong? Let them provide the part and make some profit on the part then they will probably stand behind them.

I once had a lady Demand a new radiator, her gauge was defective but she insisted on a new radiator for her 2002tii

Problem still existed, not my fault we only did what she INSISTED we do.

Simply bad parts, bad service.

Sorry, just trying to figure out what the problem is. Your post isn't real coear to me.
You talk about having parts, needing parts, your wife, leaks, etc.

Who provided the part that leaked?

Was the part defective or damaged during installation?

Incorrectly installed?

Old part reused thus leaked?

It started when we were leaving for syncro solstice, my brakes hit the floor on the way to an alignment. Not meeting our deadline we opted for plan B. A tour of our state and sent the van to the shop.

I was in touch with them while on the road, the said the master cylinder was bad and the lines coming out of the cylinder too! Confused sure, but whatever I was happy to have the van when we got home.

Upon returning home, I get the vanand a story of what a pia the lines were to run and that the pedal is good if you pump it a bit.....huh! They thought it may be the calipers i chose and that a residual pressure valve may solve it....

Well trusting the professionals I embarked on a journey that led me to the last place I thought I'd be....in the professional zone. After all they know what they're doing....

As it turns out when pumped to 10 lbs on the power bleeder I bubble and deep from the rearward grommet as the paint shows the after math and the lines, this pissed me off, this is my fix not a shop whose got line products at their disposal.

I have to post pics later, battery is dead

I know, I guess what flies as acceptable these days!

This has launched operation "do over"! Should I get a new master cylinder from a reputable source, this one says made in Italy. New steel lines, from who? Or just fiddle with what I have until it works?

Boy,
Where is this one coming from & going?

You contracted a mechanic to install your master cylinder, your brake line, to your installed big brakes, and the master leaks, and your wife is happy about something.
Wow.

From what I think I've read here, you being the supplier of parts, it's all on you.
Now, if the shop got his own parts, this all would be his & his suppliers problem to solve.

Now it's yours being the purveyor of the parts.

Get another one and pay him again to install it, hope that one doesn't leak.

You put yourself in this position, not the guy that hung your stuff.
