67 only: column goes through lock, mounts to steering bracket, rounder elec. cover, no push button for start, smooth bezel by key.
61-66: column goes through lock, mounts to steering bracket, rounder elec. cover, no push button for start, words on bezel by key.
3/55-61: column goes through lock, mounts via column pinch bolt, rectangular cover (wires go in one end), has a white push button for start, words on bezel by key.
BD: lock goes over column, different style cover (extra hole on cover + wires go in on a different side), no white push button for start, words on bezel by key.
Left is 61-66... Right is 3/55-61
2nd pic shows a glimpse of the 3/55-61 white push button for start.
Barndoor follows these two pics...
Barndoor looks like this:
Two pics reference & lastly, pic from Technical Bulletin V2

So the locking steering box is the same? just uses a different locking column pre 59. So I need the right lock for my 58 ambulance? _________________ Think big drive a bus...

Steering box is the same... the steering shaft had a collar or 'locking shells' (as seen above) welded to it.
The shells can be made... or Wolfgang typically has some of the original locking boxes & columns.
Locating the shells/hole to cut in the column can be seen in the Technical Bulletin. Location of the collar/shells may vary based on BD or post-BD. Use the right Tech. Bulletin.
I'm making some corrections to the above posts of mine... based on Clara's info below.

If there is writing around where you insert the key , that says "Fahrt Start Garage Halt", (or the equivalent in another language), it is 62-66.
If there is no writing there, it is '67 and takes the L series key. Other than the key, there is not reall difference between the 62-66 and 67 units.
on the left, the 62-66 kind
on the right, the 3/55 through 61 kind
67 vvvvv
