Torque converter speedi sleeve 090 automatic transmission ?
Searched Samba w.o luck
Is there a recommended speedi sleeve for the TC?
This TC has a max OD is 41.96 mm and the riding surface is 13 mm from top to ridge
Couldn't get a good picture of the groove but if feels that the transmission side of this had a wide groove and being down in there like this sanding it flat is unlikely so thinking Speedi Sleeve
Looks like the 99166 is the closest covering a diameter of 41.83 - 42.01 mm with a (b) 14.5 mm total height and a (b1) 11.3 mm riding surface but it may ride a little higher than the top of the existing surface. There are others but they are even taller 99169 and 99873
(select tab "technical specifications" and display in Metric)
https://www.skf.com/us/products/industrial-seals/p...ctid-99166
Looks like I can get it locally at FLAPS in a National brand for like $35 (NAPA SKF $62). Does that make a diff vs. SKF? ..... I can order on line in SKF $23, Timken $25, National $12,
notice the oil/dirt filled vent flutes on this TC
Luckily the fluid is nice a red/purple

I know there's a thread with the part number somewhere here on Samba, it's how I got mine. However, the one I got was a bit too 'tall' or long for my tastes, we ended up trimming it shorter once installed.
Which, is something I'd rather do before installing it if I have to ever do it again.
I'll try in find my info on the spare sleeve I have, I think it's a Timken kit.
Samba member posted this Timken part # in the thread below.

that thread has the taller one xxxx69 which is like 15mm tall...so concluding from that that the 99166 at 11mm is a closer one.
Conveniently, all the makes use (some form of) the Speedi Sleeve SKF number _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

You might consider changing your search terms for more results.
You're looking for a Vanagon 090 torque converter bushing, so search for "vanagon 090 torque converter bushing repair" and you may get better results.

I hope that helps. Looks like your thread above has good info.

That looks like a completely different thing. What am I missing seeing here? It's not even 41mm across

You're right. I sent you down a path for the wrong bushing! My mistake. Though that is nearly 41mm. The caliper reads in inches! Who does that? Metric is our friend here.

I bought a SKF sleeve last year, 99169, for a torque converter. |
Do you remember how it turned out?
Any hints?
What was the length like?
(Surprisingly short post from you with absent detail and often funny commentary. You feeling alright in this Christmas day?) _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

Sorry about the fast reply, indeed I was sneaking up on TheSamba real quick while my plate was being served, so I was avoiding trouble, but all good, simple family time
I looked for pictures on my computer, it looks like I didn't take any... I vaguely remember trimming the length with a disc grinder, had to plug the opening to avoid crap going in, but that was 2 years ago.It didn't leave me a lasting impression, so I'm sure that was an easy thing to address.
Aloha!
