Any advice from those that have already crossed this bridge? Id hate to bugger this up when asking for advice could have saved the day.

On a repainted top there is often a "ghost" of the letters still visible identified by paint texture where the letters were.

Follow the ghost.

GoWesty has a video on how to place the decals. Pretty helpful

That's a helpful video. One modification to their method is to only peel a couple inches of the backing and cut it so that the backing remains on most of it. You can line up the sticker easier without fear of it inadvertently sticking in the wrong place. When aligned, stick down the exposed 2-3 inches to hold the sticker in place, then peel the rest of the backing off. Work from the stuck end to the opposite side to adhere it. Similar to (but not exactly) like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRkURz3GrDQ

Wow a video, who would have thought. Was very informative and pretty much what i assumed. And I agree w PDX and I will work from one end to the other. If I were to unpeel the whole thing Id have a mess on my hands.
Im still learning to use scotch tape so this will be a challenge.

And yes Im a bit embarrassed to admit there is deff a ghost.

I was a sign painter in a former life so worked my share of vinyl.

We're chasing light so haven't the time to describe positioning. Make sure there's no high spots on the paint that will create bumps on the vinyl that love to trap air.

Wash your hands clean, fill a quart of warm, bath-temp water in an spray bottle atomizer with exactly two drops of Dawn or similar dish liquid. Shake well and allow to settle for five minutes, then spray a lot of it on a CLEAN and DE-WAXED roof surface. Then peel the vinyl back being careful to not touch any of the adhesive, and soak the adhesive, then the roof again. Position the lettering where it should be and firmly but carefully squeegee the air bubbles out. Let dry until bone dry in the shade, 30-60 minutes, and wait ten more minutes to be safe.

Squeegee one more time and pull the backing slowly and "flat,"at 180 degrees to the surface -- really slowly.

If any dirt gets onto the adhesive before placing, pull it off carefully with a pin -- or best yet keep it clean.

PM me if you want to know how to position it, we're back to the bush and may or may not have service for a few days but I will reply.
