She is now home a 1960 15W that was left on the owner's property.
I was told it was on the road last in the 1970s. The grandfather owned it sold to a guy who sold it to the person I bought it from.
We have been looking for a bullet nose 15W and now we have one.STOKED.
Happy that we now again have a bus after selling our 55 semaphore kombi in 2007.
This will also be our built thread for "Jackie" named after my wife's mom who recently passed away.
She has all the seats and interior panels, coat hooks, jail bars and glass but needs extensive chassis work.

Dustin & vwuberalles
Thank you
So we mentioned this will be the build thread. Its -13c currently outside
I decided to bring parts from the bus that it came with
This is the headlights( before photos)
Here are some detail #s says made in Germany I think these are original from factory
the top of the lens says "Hella"
The chrome bezel can be clean up
and the housing I can blast as I owned a mobile blasting company
Can anybody shed light on this?
Thanks

Yes, those headlights look like correct 1960 Bus headlights.
The "E1" glass lenses are correct for 56-63.
There should be a little drain hole on each of the chrome headlight rings.
This drain hole faces downward when they are installed.

Thanks, Everett
I just went and checked one has the hole as you stated the other has none.
Weird...
Also upon closer inspection, all the glass has markings "Sigla" glass on top right corners except for the front two windshields. Do the windshields have markings too? I will look closer when the weather is better. _________________ Certified vw nut

Here is a link to an incredible wealth of headlight lens and bucket minutia (both 356 and VW)

The windshields would have had logos on the upper, inner corners. Different ones were used in Canada. Could have been SIGLA or DELOG. As windshields get broken more often than other glass, they have likely been changed out with generic glass.

Agree with this 100%.
I believe a '60 15-Window would have SIGLA windshields for a N. American Bus but they could have replaced over time.
The SIGLA logos are hard to see sometimes, clean the glass if it's dirty and shine a flashlight from different angles and see if that helps the logo show up. _________________ How to Post Photos

Cool, middle seat too!
It must be a '61 since it has the 3-position front seat catches.
Maybe a '61 built in late 1960 and registered as a '60? |
Yep, a 61 produced in calendar year 60. It’s a high-hinge with humpback seats, so somewhere between 27 Oct 1960 (chassis # 673 616) and 29 Dec 1960 (chassis #705 619). Two months only with those overlapping. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

Don’t forget to turn the headlight bulb 90*. The way they are now is for a bug. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Your statement is partially correct. The vw certificate attached says was manufactured Aug 11,1960.
You mentioned from Oct 27,1960 (chassis#673616- to Dec 29,1960 chassis number # 705619)
Our chassis number is 679XXX but VW Germany states its Aug 1960
So is it a 1960 or a 1961?
