At highway speed, esp in a hard rain, i get a constant drip from the front edge of the narrow metal channel holding the ceiling panel of my camper, falling on my left hand on the steering wheel. Fairly recent; in light rain or at in-town speeds I get little or none. I did once, about 10 years ago, take the fiberglass luggage rack section of the roof off; for cleaning and putting a new gasket on it. But I don't recall how it attached- are there some bolt holes through the metal roof that are supposed to be waterproofed that are giving entry to the water? After another removal, what kind of waterproofing gunk will seal it properly?

Anywhere you see a screw head on the luggage rack, there is a body perforation below it.

I lightly applied gutter caulk - because I had it- to the bolts when I installed my luggage rack, as well as a light bead around the bracket bases. So far, so good.

No need to seal the screws.

When new they have a rubber washer on both sides of the fiberglass, I suspect this was done to ward off vibration and to keep the metal fasteners from wearing into the fiberglass.

The rear nuts? They need to be a waterproof seal.

The luggage carrier is designed to have rain water under it.

Yeah, the poptop I installed had all the hardware with it including the washers so I used them. Because my westfauxlia install is exactly that- like, I used rivnuts for the luggage rack- I went ahead and did the caulk on the brackets and bolts under the rack, not the screws, because ain't going to hurt IMO.
