|
|
I'm thinking about swapping the front beam on my ''64 split as the current has been modified and damaged and stock steering pivot pin and steering are very, very sloppy
I actually have a good replacement beam in hand (with a good pin) sans t.bars etc.
So how hard would it be to remove the trailing arms on one side, slide the whole assembly out of the other side, drop out and replace the axle and reassemble, sliding in both t.bars at once, arms still attached on one side? Would that work or more disassembly first??
I realize I'd have to take off drums, brakes and steering, as well as shift coupling at least first.
Have reassembled ball joint bug axle before but not king pin. |

Would it not be easier to fix the centre pin?

The springs are under pressure, with some serious struggling, cursing, hammering, breaking parts you might get one side apart as a complete unit but you will never get it back together like that. |
