I came across some used tires and wheels and am wondering if they'd work on my 1995 Eurovan camper:
Wheels: 16x8 and 66.6 centre bore, ET 51
Tires are 235/60/16
Note: van is not yet lifted but I would be doing that as part of this upgrade
Thanks
PS I saw the megathread about vanagon wheels / tires but didn't see one for Eurovan -- sorry if it exists and I missed it _________________ 1995 VW Eurovan Winny

That is a somewhat commonly used tire size but usually on a 7.5 inch rim. I'd think you will be fine depending on how much lift you add. |

I think those are far off from ideal. See this - http://www.cavevan.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=09440beb29cb2837dc7c73918b55ddbb&topic=8.0
Center bore should be 57mm and offset max I think is 48mm. _________________ '68 Bus in West Germany, 1977-1979

Thanks all.
I'm scouring the forums trying to figure out the range of wheels that will work on the 95 Eurovan, but can't seem to find a all-in-one source.
I'm more or less trying to mimic the wheel and tire setup thats in the gowesty lift kit, but have decided to try to source some used wheels and tires to save some $$ (I'm in canada, so between exchange rate, shipping, and duty, its a pricy package).
So assuming I decide to go with 16" wheels, I'm trying to figure out:
- What wheel width will work? I've seen 6.5 to 7.5" but wondering what the max/min/ideal are
- For offset, is et38 the standard? How far could I deviate from that?
- 5x112 I'm guessing is non-negotiable?
- Center bore 57 mm -- also non-negotiable?
Once I get that figured, I probably have some questions about tires too... but I'll defer that for now

As far as the exact limits of every combination. Good luck. I doubt anyone knows all the options. Some are try them and see if they fit.
You can buy spacers to correct for the offset in one direction. You can buy centering rings if the center bore is larger than 57. These start adding up and if you are looking at all the options to find the cheapest solution, often sticking with the recommendations is best.
However, if you have found something you really love and don't mind the extra cost, you have options. For example, I found some 16x7.5s that I really liked with the wrong center bore... I bought rings and problem solved. |

As a general rule, most 16" Audi and late model VW rims (w/5x112 PCD) fit these vans very well. _________________ Casey--

To upgrade to 16" wheels, you would need to upgrade the rear brakes to discs. |
Really? Why is that? I'm surprised neither my mechanic nor gowesty has mentioned this when I discussed putting the larger wheels on my EVC... _________________ 1995 VW Eurovan Winny

Don't be afraid to try something different. Center bore rings run $10 for a set and wheel spacers and longer bolts are not gonna break the back. The UK guys are much more adventurous about wheel choices; take a look on the vw t4 forum or any of the Facebook groups for UK t4 owners for inspiration. And you definitely don't need to install rear discs. |

Just to close this off, I ended up grabbing the Gowesty wheel and lift kit. Definitely not the cheap route but saved me search time and I'm very happy with the new look and feel! _________________ 1995 VW Eurovan Winny
