My 66 beetle has a good battery but will not start. Will not even turn over. I turn the key - and nothing. Not a sound. My lights and gauges all work. Anyone have any suggestions? |

Take a look at your starter and make sure the ignition terminal 50 wire (red wire shown in the picture below) is firmly attached to the spade terminal on the solenoid. If that one is good, see if the wire has come loose from terminal 50 at the ignition switch.

See above.
If that wire is attached, put DC voltmeter across battery terminals and read voltage. Then turn key over to start position, re-read the voltage. Post those numbers. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Clean/dielectric grease BOTH ends of each of the battery cables also. Do same with the transaxle to body ground cable. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
