Wondering going to be vacationing in South Dakota next week around the Deadwood / Sturgis area. Any good places for split window parts or places to visit out there VW Related? Or I guess even along the way coming from southern Illinois!

Dubstyle is in So Dak. Pretty much the only VW person I'm aware of out there! LOL

Hi, I was just reading your question, welcome to the area!
As far a splits go around here, I can't think of any boneyard. For sure air cooled VWs pop up from time to time, but rarely split window buses. I hit one junkyard in WY once and asked if they had VWs and he said a few but I couldn't go look without him and he had a 50 dollar minimum to go look. Bunch of bays but still bought a rear seat my buddy put in his Kombi. The old shops have been cleared out a long time ago.
There are a few guys sitting on some personal stuff for sure, but, hmmmmm I can really only think of 1,2,3 split buses in Rapid couple single cabs. Brian's shorty, not counting his upcoming project and my two. Thats about it. I go weeks without even seeing a bay window or a vanagon around here and they're usually travelers. That's not to say there arn't more to be found.
There are some antique car dealers that stack up American cars that might produce something or leads. I can think of one other shop that might be worth a call, that's G3 Rods in Rapid City, they dig buses and are great people. My work is close to them if you want to just talk buses, I'm always up for that.
