So I just noticed the fuel damper is leaking when my '71 Squareback is running and I can't find the replacement part(s) for the life of me.
If anyone has a link and/or some advice to replace the leaky bugger, I would be appreciative at the utmost.
Many many thanks.

In the short term, just use a dual-barbed connector and bypass it.
I think I read that the purpose of the damper is to avoid pressure shocks that make the pressure regulator (at the rear of the car) chatter and wear out sooner. So a temporary bypass won't harm much.
Those do show up in the classifieds occasionally Or email boo-koo-z or other big Samba sellers. |

looks like the fuel hose leaking to me? try that first. the damper is NLA .
good used is the only option. I can dig into my stash of t-3 fuel inflicted parts
and see if I have any . never seen one leak.

I was thinking the same thing. Either that, or it's the fitting on the dampener that's leaking. I'd use a section of 5/16ths steel tubing to replace the dampener as a quick temp fix until you can get another one. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Its a harmonic damper. The zig zag inside of this part is a time interval. It uses delay and turbulence created by changing direction to damp the harmonic created by the fuel exiting the roller cell ....which is an on/off.....high pressure/low pressure harmonic....wh8ch has ANOTHER harmonic from the FPR opening and closing overlaid on top of it.
Its a nice little part. It mainly cuts down on noise transmitted through vibration. Ray |
