Well I finally got our two Renogy 100w solar panels located and am pretty happy with the resulting system.
1) Closed for traveling and short term parking. We will probably have a small buggy cord to secure went in transit.
2a) Deployed without a under brace. Sorta like this “look” coming down over the windshield.
2b) Deployed with a brace, nice and flat.

Key design eliminates were the continuous hinge on the leading edge. The custom handmade hinges on the back, connecting to the OEM cargo brackets. And the side handles to give me the ability to lift to deploy and then return to the folded position.

Now I need to figure out how & where one brings the DC cables inside to the charge controller behind the driver’s seat. With these in the front cargo bin running all the way back to the rear grille seems unlikely. I would like to have them continuously connected so some type of hole down from the driver’s side B column is the most direct path but I don’t like making holes in the top of the van. For the moment I will just temporarily hookup whenever parked coming through the driver’s window.

I hate adding holes too especially in the sheet metal.
How about running the wire into a drain hole in the luggage rack, drill a hole to exit between the luggage rack and the pop top, then enter the interior by coming between the tent and the roof?
