That really sucks, especially when you have such a beautifully finished pan waiting for it! My project has been badly delayed at the paint stage, but there has at least been progress, just spread out over a longer time than originally planned.
Ah well, it spreads out the cost at least ...
Hope you find the right person to get this on track again and look forward to seeing more. |

Well I guess I can let the cat out of the bag! I dropped my car off at Jason Wrenn's shop yesterday for him to do all the metal work.
He got it in the rotisserie today. My turn in the rotation doesn't start til he finishes up Loren's cab.
First thing is to blast it and then start banging on the panels.
It is pretty beat up but the rust is minimal.
Stay tuned for updates.

Wow! You work quick! I didn't think the inner front fenders were that bad. Hopefully there are no more surprises when it comes back from the blaster. Do you think we should PC / Prime the open rockers and adjacent areas while they have it and while it's open? So once it's sealed up it is protected internally in those areas.
Thanks for the progress report and quick work of it all! _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed

Always lots of discoveries in this part of the process. So far I’m not shocked by anything and would venture to say everything is standard from what I have seen now and in the past. Funny story …. I did make the joke to my son about one area in particular, that Backyard Billy-Bob hit the trifecta… there was chicken wire, pop rivets and plumbers take all in one repair section 🤪👊. I will say I’m glad it’s not as rusty as I previously perceived from the photos you initially shared with me. 😍✌️
To answer your question Mike I always recommend the entire body be put into sealer primer after blast. Finger prints and moisture are a big factor in the obstacles of the reconstruction process when a Kar is in raw metal. The man hours to keep it clean and continuously removing surface rust can get daunting. I will be the first to admit it’s a bit spendy up front but well worth the long term investment and peace of mind. Sealer primer is such a huge asset to raw substrates. It seals and suffocates the metals from becoming a breeding ground for problems . ☑️⚒🤍👀
I don’t anticipate any huge surprises after blast, doing pre demo really tells a pretty honest story of what to expect. There is always a couple few , here’s and there’s but nothing to loose sleep about. 😜👊 _________________ ⚒ Believe In The Power Of Positive Thinking ⚒

I have decided that the driver side rear quarter will be entirely removed. The plan will be to do all the repairs on the bench and then put it back on. If all goes well I will drop everything down to blast and prime this week. 🤩👊 |
That is scary but I know it's in good hands!
Can you post more pics of it all cut up when you get a chance? _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed

It looks 87.394% straighter! Well at least it won't be to expensive at the blaster / coater because there is less metal to do! Looks good. I am glad the demo is done and we can start the resurrection. It's going to be brand new and perfect once it's done. Thanks for taking this on and making more progress in a week than the last guy did in a year! _________________ '58 Ghia 2387cc with a Berg / Folts 5 Speed
