Earlier this year in late April i got my bug from around 2 of three hours away and didn't know much about the mechanics I have been a VW enthusiast before I had gotten my bug. I was looking for a good project that was drivable as is and this one was perfect it had all sorts of little flaws but nothing was major. over the 5 months I have made a lot of progress including unsealing the sunroof which was sealed shut by a previous owner which came in handy over this summer, making a carpet for the frunk, sealing the engine compartment, changing the air filter from a aftermarket paper air filter to a stock oil bath and so muck more. it is a 1974 standard beetle in red it has a 1600cc engine and a sunroof which appears to have been cut out of a sun bug and put in a this beetle. Such a cool car! NICE!

It reminds me a lot of the '76 I had in high school. Same rims, same stance....

Nice ride!!!

So I was busy and did not have time to post the pictures in a while. Embarassed
so here they are some pictures of the interior. If the headliner looks bad in these pictures that's because it is, but hopefully I will fix it by end of winter. Red Bug

Today while replacing the front trunk seals, I took the trunk off and leaned it up against a wall with an old carpet bit at the bottom. A gust of wind blew and the trunk hit the pavement scratching and denting it, while not being too terrible. The paint had a unique sort of wear that was not perfect but not damaged so I don't know how to make it look right again.

With carboard teeth, a horn attached to a motion sensor and a plastic pumpkin in the passenger seat, Happy Halloween! Very Happy

oh that, yeah I defiantly exaggerated in the post as then it was fresh it my mind but on the car, it looks fine and it probably got a bit dirty when it hit the ground and the dust made it look worse then it is. its all fine now. Smile

So it has been a WHILE since i posted and while i wish i can say it is because i am busy that would be a lie i am just incredibly lazy Embarassed
well, sometime early last summer i was returning from a show and it started to rain. that's fine we have the hoses to drain the sunroof its all fine, not. it got to the point where there was way to much rain and the hoses were not able to do their job and it leaked all over. there was almost two water bottles collected and the headliner was ruined Sad but it was crap to begin with so...
months of waiting, releasing we order the wrong headliner and then fumbling around installing it along with replacing the sunroof cables because we broke them trying to get the sunroof out. eventually we where done! Dancing but just now got around to posting. but pretty much the whole interior is (roughly) refurbished because of new: center tray thingy, carpet, window cracks, door sill covers. oh yeah did i mention no windows where taken out in the process of installing headliner Twisted Evil ok it probably not that big of a deal but, take that random post from the 2000s!

Nice car just an observation but it looks like the metal bows are missing from headliner

No, they are there, but what's not there are the thingies that are supposed to prevent the bows from flipping upside-down, also keep in mined that the sunroof housing thing is in there. Very Happy (this is not exactly the most complete beetle)

Those flared fenders are boss! I've never seen them for a late model.
