|
|
I purchased a Bosch SR15N for my 1968 FI Squareback. It only has one spade at terminal 50.
I have two wires that go to the solenoid:
1. Wire 18 from the fuel injection
2. Wire from the ignition
Can I run this starter with a 2 to 1 spade connector on terminal 50?
Is there a better solution? |

I would recommend you use the sheathed Y-connector instead of the piggyback tab connector, which will loosen from vibration. A little more work, but it will be more durable. Crimp the wires using a factory-style double crimper, or at least solder and shrink wrap them.
Note: that other terminal 50 wire is to operate the cold start valve. Living in southern California, you will probably never need it. Depending on year, the CSV only operates below freezing, sometimes far below, and only while cranking. _________________ Current Fleet:

Yeah, I'd do as Phil suggested, then you can zip tie it to secure it. I did it on my wife's car like you wanted, and it did just like Phil said and fell off from vibration. In our case we don't use the car in winter, but you do need the 2nd wire to run the injectors on start up (why it uses that extra terminal on the starter).
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
