Here's a couple more of this thing from maybe 15-20 years ago until about 2017

Set out to replace the front windshield seal and install the chrome trim, ended up getting it roped in on my second try, not bad!

One step forward and one step backward, got my preheat hose hooked up to my little tube thing on the 3/4 cylinder side but had to put my spare 009 on from my road trip tool bag because the advance plate thing on my 205m distributor was sticking intermittently. Boy do these things drive a lot different (worse) with the 009's.

I thought I had a German square or dome top fuel pump I could rebuild but one was an old USA made unit and the other was a brazilian. Looks like Sparxwerxs has a scratch and dent sale on some
dome tops though.

You could try applying oil to the dual plates and see if that gets rid of the sticking, or take the advance distributor apart for a good cleaning. Just make sure to mark the shaft to show which way the drive gear goes back on if you do the latter.

VW of Brazil fuel pumps are good for a running engine that is not going to be restored to factory specs.

What size crankshaft pulley do you have? Looks like the smaller single port version that should not be paired with dog house cooling system.

I'll get it ripped apart and unstuck at some point. Good call on the crank pulley I'll measure it but I'm assuming since I didn't change it that it's an early pulley. This engine seems to be a hodge podge of different year stuff.

Got my distributor back in, points plate was really stuck on the shaft to the point where the advance would stick at max and then it would run like garbage obviously. Still gotta dig out another heat tube clamp. Need to get an non insulated terminal crimper tool to replace a couple colorful ones I've used here and there.

Take the green wire off the coil. Then wrap that wire around a wood pencil or straight sided pen, with each loop tight against the next. Once wound around let the wire loosen from that and slide the writing implement up and out of the now curled wire. Reattach the wire back on the coil. That will help the wire not rub on parts of the engine and make that much less rat nest of a look.

Also get the sealing tin parts to go around the heat riser pipes of the intake manifold at the rear tin.

that's funny I was trying to recoil it back and never thought about wrapping it around something, I'll do that, I need another set of those heat riser cover
things too but I'll do that when I get a normal muffler back on it, my buddy put this silly empi one on it that doesn't fit right at all

Old red is going to need some metal work soon, I fear I will get scope creep though and go too deep but we'll see. Need to reseal the axle flanges and boots soon. Still running like a champ though.

Always interesting to see long term updates on cars like this. I should consider making a thread like this about mine.
