liked the idea to get the evaporator into the oversized stock heaterbox.
And the cabin air contror was i nice thing!
Condensation drain through the traverse to the front.
Now we have spring, not hot, but tha works like a charme.
There are 2 backflow flaps 50mm for the cabin air control.
Not too mouch, but half of air is enough, gettin more cold and hot.
For the air condition, there is a 2 spep switch comonated with the front cooler ventilator for the 1st and 2nd level of blower, that makes 2 temperatures of A/C. By the way, it is a JX engine, stinky diezel...
Just like to show you some pics.
The evaporator out of this universal part fits quite good:
a little modification on it:
in the heaterbox
The cabin air control:
Ready with shields
and one of the flaps
the blower resistor went right down, it is exchangable now.

How does the expansion valve attach to the evap core? Well executed. Is it enough to cool the entire van or just up front? Our vintage air dash unit doesnt really cool the rear. Pretty sure it is undersized compared to the factory camper evaportator. _________________ ☮️ |

Dave, the poster has a few more pics in his gallery which make the layout of the box a little more clear. I am guessing that the stock heater core will still be used. Some of his pics in the post above show the box upside down, and make it appear that the evaporator is located where the heater core should be, but it's just the photography that inititially gives that impression.
This is very nice work by a person very skilled in fabricating. I am waiting to see more pics and more explanation. The ambient air flaps are a very nice fabrication.
For comparison, see my janky approach:

That is some really nice fabrication - brazing work. Wow.
Looking forward to more on this.

So....... what are you doing for heat?
That looks like your entire air box is now Air Conditioning. |
Wow, no, we are in a cold area
The standard heater-core is still in use at the same place. View the pics and you see the heater hoses.
Just 3 or 4 days/year, we need the a/c. But i worked for the future, when we get palms and hot stuff. |
