I’m trying to put on the outer seals on the pop out windows of my 68 Squareback. I thought the inners were a pain, but these are crazy. Can I get a closeup of how they’re mounted to the frames? Like their orientation, inner and outer. Things like that. And any tips on how to get them into the groove too. Thanks. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

I just did some recently. What’s the issues you are having? The outer ones are pretty straight forward I believe.
If you want pics can you be a little more specific of the angle and I’ll take some.
If I remember correctly, figure out where you want the seam first and start there. I put mine to the front upright in the middle or as close as possibly basically mirroring the inner seal/seam. One thing I did was to slightly stretch the seam making the portion slight smaller to slip in to the channel. I used a spray bottle with soap and water for lube.
One other thing to note is as you round the window it may seem like it’s a bit too large. You will have to work the seal back to take up the slack.
Hopefully this helps _________________

I was mainly just wanting to know which side of the outer seal faces outward. But I got it. Thanks. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

Theres's a flap that should sit over the front. Basically, the pop-out frame will kinda look like the window trim on the other seals when the inner and outer pop-out seals are installed. A lot of people mess this up, unfortunately. _________________ 1963 Notchback - Ruby Red

Yup, I've found slightly stretching the seal to get it into the groove works well, then bunching it up after 8 or so inches. I use a little soap and water to lube the seal onto the frame. Plan on spending some time getting the outer seal on, as it's a fiddly job that takes time. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
