Hi all. I know there's a yearly Seattle area meetup at Marymoor Park on the Eastside every October/November, but I'm wondering if there's any interest in a meetup in Seattle itself during the summer months when the weather is perfect? Ballard/Fremont/Wallingford/Queen Anne/Magnolia neighborhoods must have more vanagons per capita than just about anywhere in the country so I was thinking a meetup on Magnolia Boulevard would be fun. The views of the city, Mt Rainier, and the Olympics from the Boulevard are incredible, and there's plenty of free street parking on mile-long Magnolia Boulevard. (I talked to Sea Trans about meeting on the Boulevard and the rep could see no problem.)
I was thinking Friday August 2 because that's the weekend of Magnolia Summerfest, the neighborhood celebration of Seafair. There is a beer garden starting at 2:00 and free bands in Magnolia Village all day.
Thoughts?

I don't know if I can make that trek on a weekday, but if I can sort it I might be able to roll up from Portland...
I've come up a couple of times for the Marymoor Park meet and had a blast. |

I'll be on Magnolia Boulevard near the free parking lot at 4:00 on August 2 and I hope others can join me. I'll be heading over to Magnolia Village later to catch 3 Trick Pony (a great live cover band) and grab a beer at the beer garden and a bite to eat at one of the food trucks. See you there! |

The Seattle summer meetup idea was about as well-received as a fart in church but I'm still going to be on Magnolia Boulevard on Aug 2 at 4:00 if anyone shows up. I'll be heading over to Summerfest at 5:00 to catch 3 Trick Pony. I've posted a lineup of the bands that weekend and all are free and the beer is cold and cheap.

Hi Vanis13. I was planning on meeting on Magnolia Boulevard at 4:00 before heading over to Summerfest. Magnolia is one of the many defined neighborhoods in Seattle, and Magnolia Boulevard is one of the best view streets in the city. It's never crowded and parking is free. You will easily find me and my van (and hopefully a few others) on the Boulevard. Here's a link describing the Boulevard:
https://seattlebloggers.com/magnolia-boulevard-viewpoints-in-seattle/
If you put "Magnolia Boulevard 98199" in your map search it will pop right up for directions.
The Summerfest is held in Magnolia Village at the Magnolia Playfield Park, intersection of 33rd Ave W and W Smith St. 98199. You'll definitely hear the bands as you get close. I'm planning on heading over there around 5 after the meetup on the Boulevard.
Look forward to meeting you and buying you a couple of beers!
p.s. That first pic I posted on this thread is my van. I should be easy to spot. And the pic was taken on Magnolia Blvd on a beautiful summer day a couple of weeks ago. Not another car in sight! |

Long range weather forecast for next Friday looks great. I hope a few others can join me for a meetup on Magnolia Boulevard on August 2 to enjoy the views! |

It'll probably be a beautiful Seattle day but I'll be out of town and won't be able to make it. Maybe for the Marymoor meetup in Oct if it happens? _________________ - Jim

8 vans were reported stolen in July on the Van Alert app. 6 of those vans were stolen in Seattle and the majority of those thefts occurred in Ballard. If anyone shows up on Magnolia Blvd on Friday at the meetup maybe we should have a discussion about theft deterrents? |

Can't make the meet up, but would like to be included in the anti theft discussions. I use a club, disconnect the coil wire, and I have "GPS tracking stickers". _________________ Rick McK
