OK me and five other friends played a game today 100 questions all Volkswagen and the one who gets the most right wins 100 bucks. Well I won 100 bucks. I got 99 questions out of 100 but after all these years I still don't know what."HWE" stands for.  SOOOOO WHAT DOES IT MEAN ?

I'm very familiar with HWE accessory racks as I have pretty much all of them, but I've never gave it. Any thought what H stands for what W stands for and what E stands for

| I'm not 100% sure, but HWE could have been Heinemann Werke Einbeck from Germany. Until the 1970s, they mainly manufactured bicycles, but also supplied parts for Volkswagen. And the technology for manufacturing bicycles (frames, racks etc) and roof racks is very similar. If someone can show a logo of an HWE roof rack, we could compare it with the Heinmann logo? |

Fits the early Heidemann logo. Later, the Heidemann logo had a more elaborate design:
