Replaced the water pump and after reassembly, it wouldn’t start. It ALWAYS starts right up. Unplugged the ECT sensor and it started immediately. I suspected a faulty sensor so I replaced it. Same issue. Starts right away as long as the ect is disconnected.

Thoughts?

Are you referring to the Temp II sensor?

If yes, you can easily test it using the graph in the Bentley or the ProTraining manual.

If you test it at the ECU you will also be testing the portion of the wiring harness that connects to it.

Check to see if any wires got pinched during the water pump replacement. Also look at the end of the Temp 2 sensor and see if the pins are still fully seated into the connector. Sometimes on that style of connector, they walk backwards as you're installing the connector, and it's hidden by the rubber protection boot that it's happening.
