So moving on to my next task...
1970 bug. The pedals are not exactly designed for my big feet. Is there a solution to creating more space between the pedals so I can avoid hitting the brake and gas at the same time?
Surely someone else here has big feet and has dealt with this... |

It’s cool, but doesn’t solve the issue the OP is having. This moves the distance between the brake and clutch. Doesn’t mention anything about the distance between the gas and brake. I have the same issue when I wear my work boots (size 13) and drive my ‘66. I’ll catch part of the gas pedal when braking. _________________ 2015 VW Passat Wolfsburg Edition

I have one. When I’m wearing boots I’ll still manage to hit both every so often during a drive.

If you have the none cast pedals, you can try to bend them a little, maybe with a maximum of 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
No ideal solution, another possibility is to have the pedal cluster modified.

I don't have wide feet however, I have the same issue when I wear running shoes when I drive my bug. I found that wearing boat shoes, or older style (canvas) sneakers, I don't have the issue of my shoe hitting both pedals. _________________ 75 model 110 (Basic Bug) - Project Daily Driver |

I have the same issue with certain shoes. I wear a size 12/13 depending on the shoe and have wider feet.
Often i'll wear shoes like Toms when driving the bug. They're canvas/cloth, they're light, and i have more of a feel of the pedal.
Sometimes I'll drive it while wearing flip flops, but those are almost always too big, so i'll drive barefoot. And before anyone says that its illegal, that is a myth. _________________ 1974 Super Beetle |

I don't have oars for feet- but revisit the idea of the cluster that moves the clutch over...
You'll learn how to occupy more space with your brake foot. You'll enjoy that extra wiggle room-as it becomes muscle memory when you lift your foot off the accelerator and use the brake. Likewise you'll learn how to slip your toes partially under the brake to work the gas.
I'm certain in a couple weeks you won't remember having the problem. The wide cluster really does allow relief with your gas pedal. I am not a paid spokesman. _________________

you can do like I did and cut off part of your foot .... I dont see what a roller peddell will do fer ya..I dont like them any way..you can also bend the brake peddell over a tad...if your carfull..and do it right..(you dont want it folding up when the breaks are applied!!), my car has type 3 peddels in it(well thats what Ive been told they are...I dont know if they have more or less room. |

Hose clamp a 2" square of rubber 1 1/2" thick to the top of the peddle and the brakes will engage before you reach the gas peddle. |

Late to the party, but this guy bends them. Is there a reason NOT to do this? I'm thinking about it when I change the gas pedal to a harder one later this summer.
