Hi everyone, I finally got what I have been looking for-an orange super beetle. It is a little rough, but runs good, doesn't have much rust at all (at least for a northeast bug), and has a lot of potential. It currently has air shocks front and rear but I don't think they are what I need for what I'd like to do (plus, they seem like a rough ride in the back). I would like to raise the ride height as much as 2 to 3 inches without getting into "Baja" type mods. I know I can re-index the rear and gain a few inches. I also saw some springs that add an inch to the front, but I wanted to know if anyone knows if I could raise the front more to keep the geometry correct with the raised rear. Any information would be helpful.

Check out Topline super beetle parts.

Check out Dust Buggy YouTube channel

You can gain some height with the springs, strut tower spacers and bushings to correct the geometry a bit. And some taller tires.

However I think a full l 3 inches would involve fabricating lift spindles from scratch, as I don't think they are commercially available for the super beetle.

Also check out this build thread, he built a nice mild-trail ready super beetle.

" It currently has air shocks front and rear" ??? A 73 Super has MacPherson strut on the front. I am confused.

This guy, Spencer, came up with some very innovative ideas (when applied to a Super Beetle) to make a Super Beetle offroad worthy, including reinforcement of the strut housings and lift spindles. Unfortunately he was killed in a car accident a couple years ago. His widow, however, continues to carry the torch. The site is definitely worth a look to help create a Super that, though probably not able to run the Baja 1000, can survive very well offroad.
