Sorry - for the blurry picture, but here'e my question:
The portion below the headlights had to be rebuilt and in previous repairs removed any traces of the original alignment of the mounting holes for the front turn signals. However, a user here had posted clear measurements that showed that the turn signals were not aligned exactly on the centerline but angled a bit from the center.
Using those measurements, when we fitted the lights, I noticed that the turnsignals did not point directly ahead, but were canted outward (see second pic). Is that how it is supposed to be?

When I eliminated the '72 big turn signals and put bullet fixtures in place of them. I just market a 'center line' from the fender 'ridge' with a plumb bob, like you, then and put the wire hole in the middle distance between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 45 yrs - Plan B: '72 Ghia

I'm not sure how helpful this will be, because my indicators are the slightly earlier two piece housings, but for what it is worth they point straight forward, not canted to the side:
I am not sure this helps much either because the headlight area is so mangled, but this is the wing front cut off my car, in case you can make any kind of comparison of the hole locations:

Thanks! My main question isn’t whether the lights once mounted point exactly straight ahead or slightly outward as they are in mine? Can any one else confirm? _________________ 1971 1302LS Convertible (RHD) owned since '74

The turn signal holes had rotted on my 66, so I had to patch and re-cut them like you did. I used these as my guide
Mine are straight down from the headlight bucket, pointing straight forward
And here's a shot of the 67 I used to own, that had never been welded. The photo isn't taken direct on in front of the lights, so the camera lens curvature makes it look like it's pointing out, but you can see the base is directly below the headlight ring mounting screw

My '64 also had significant rust above and below the headlights when I bought it over 45 years ago. I took measurements of the blinker position from the less rusty side of the car and transferred them to patch panels that I brazed in at home. IIRC the 2 fastener holes for the blinker mounting studs are aligned directly below, and centered under the headlamp center. I never considered that there might be a small sideways outward alignment difference per your photo... My blinkers thereby point straight forward... |

Original '72 Ghia turn signals cost to much and IMO 'ugly". Went older style. Center on headlights and in the middle of bumper and headlight.

I knew in the back of my head that I had a drawn out diagram somewhere from when I had to do this with my car, but I couldn't find it earlier when I posted above. It was because of the name of the thread it was in (bullet blinkers) wasn't a search term I had considered. Finally tracked it down. This might help
