I have a weekender bed that I am putting together but it did not come with the, what I would call 'rails'.
Could someone please post some pictures of how the bed attaches to the van? It's out of a later model water-cooled vanagon. not sure what year. |

What bed exactly do you have? There are different widths and different styles.
People imterchange all kinds of names for the same bed. |

That should bolt straight into a late model van as long as it isn't a narrower carat style rear seat. |

That is not a Weekender bed. Until you know the width you don't know if its standard Passenger van or Carat.
At a minimum you will need the posts that go in the body that the bear claw latches latch into.
Do you have just standard cardboard panels or the plastic Carat style? Not so simple as there are lots of Variations.
If it were a Weekender bed it would have a Wooden box as a base and you would need Weekender or Multivan panels as they act a stop for the seat.

Please take this advice: Remove the seat back and bench before attempting to install it. If you remove the seat back and bench, you will be able to easily place it in the van and see how the frame lines up to the bolt holes in the body.
Install the folding frame. Make sure it folds in and out smoothly. Then mount the seat back and bench.
Failure to follow this advice will lead you to scratch your interior panels, sweat profusely, curse a lot, and potentially pull your back. _________________ '87 Syncro Ferric Oxyhydroxide Superleggera Edition

This sounds like excellent advice! As others have previously commented, not all Vanagon fold-out beds were created equal… _________________ “Most everyone’s mad here. You may have noticed I am not quite all there myself.” — Cheshire Cat, Adventures of Alice in Wonderland

Looks like the bench/bed from the weekender package.
However by the look of the fabric and since it looks like it may have the holes for headrests it is likely really from a Carat or Wolfsburg tintop.
If so that would mean it is too narrow to fit without the 4 factory spacers that it came with, 2 at each end.
What year Vanagon are you trying to fit it to?
